OriginOS 6, the new UI update set to replace FuntouchOS in international markets, was officially launched in China this Friday, along with the BlueOS 3 operating system for smartwatches. It showcases iOS-style Liquid Glass effects throughout the interface.
This new UI update will run on the Android 16 platform, and the Vivo X300 series will be the first to feature it out of the box. Meanwhile, older models are expected to receive the update in the near future.
The company published an official teaser on its Weibo profile, which displayed elements inspired by the iOS Liquid Glass Interface. Additionally, the new update also integrated a suite of AI features like AI Removal and AI Replace.

OriginOS 6 Features
In the teaser video, the company showcased a beautiful and comfortable UI. This design featured iOS-style liquid glass elements, which appeared in the lock screen, home screen, and app opening/closing animations.
Furthermore, the Home screen apps and keyboard elements now feature the new style, which changes color based on activity. Here are some key features that Vivo unveiled at its Developer Conference:
AI Removal for Photos
At the event, the company announced the integration of new AI features like AI Removal and AI Replace in live photos, which professionals can use to remove or replace unwanted elements in a picture.
Furthermore, another feature in the AI integration is a photo editor that helps users edit photos, correct color accuracy, and enhance the overall picture. Additionally, it helps convert the picture into a PDF, a feature other companies have yet to offer.
Dynamic Island
The company has confirmed the iOS-style Dynamic Island feature—which Vivo refers to as the Atomic Island—in the upcoming OriginOS 6 update. The teaser video showcased that it will primarily be used to display charging status, notifications, calls, and messages.
Lockscreen Customization
The new design brings enhanced customization features for the lock screen, which is largely inspired by the iOS lock screen, including the customization of date and time widgets, and more.
Aside from the inspired design, Vivo also added a different design, where users can select four pictures for the lock screen at the same time. When the user tilts or swipes the phone, the picture will change with the tilts and swipes.
Additionally, if users choose larger time and date widgets and the lock screen area becomes full when notifications appear, the widget size will automatically reduce to display the latest notifications.
App Switching Animation
Vivo has claimed the new OriginOS 6 will showcase great engineering in animation and smoothness. As the teaser video revealed, users will not experience any stutters or lag when switching apps during gaming or while using and switching between multiple windows.
These key specifications have been officially confirmed, and the product is set to launch in the global market soon. The new focus on AI integration and customization is a major departure from FuntouchOS.
While FuntouchOS is one of the best UI skins known for its lag-free experience, its user interface has been criticized for being somewhat boring.
