Huawei’s other major launch under the Mate 70 series has reportedly leaked—the Huawei Mate 70 Air, which is said to be a thin and lightweight addition to the lineup. Before this, Huawei had already launched the Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro+, and Mate 70 RS Ultimate in the same series.
According to a Huawei Central report, the Huawei Mate 70 Air focuses on the telephoto lens, improves the quality and clarity, and is said to deliver the best quality compared to its predecessor device in the series.

However, amid all the rumors, it’s time to compare it with one of its predecessors—the Huawei Mate 70—to see how their designs differ.
Huawei Mate 70 and Mate 70 Air Design Difference
In terms of design, the back panel appears quite similar to the regular Huawei Mate 70. The most noticeable difference, however, is the body width. The Huawei Mate 70 Air is said to feature an ultra-thin design—similar to what we’ve already seen with devices like the Galaxy S25 Edge, iPhone Air, and Motorola X70 in China—and now, Huawei seems ready to follow with the Mate 70 Air.
There’s a high chance that the Mate 70 Air will feature a few design tweaks, such as changes in camera count, battery efficiency, or even the ports and buttons. However, some reports suggest that the phone will remain largely similar to its siblings, with one noticeable difference—a redesigned camera island ring that reportedly won’t have a golden finish.
According to popular Chinese tipster Focal Digital, the Mate 70 Air is expected to feature a large 30× R-Angle ultra-round camera island on the back. Another likely change could appear on the front, where Huawei may tweak the display panel—particularly the chin area—to achieve an even thinner profile.
Apart from these, several reports suggest that the phone will be just 6 mm thick and feature a 6.9-inch 1.5K resolution display. It is expected to be powered by up to 16 GB of onboard RAM and run on HarmonyOS 5.1. Color options are allegedly black, white, and gold.
